Urgent care is required when you suffer dental trauma, specifically the jarring loose of a tooth due to the impact of injury or accident. Such matters are alarming, but when count on us here at the dental practice of George Cochran DDS, you can be assured of getting expert attention right away from our Adams Ridge emergency dentist.
There are two states that your tooth can be in when it is jarred loose. If it is still attached, however minimally, it's called dislodged. A tooth completely free of its socket is referenced as being avulsed. Try to guide your dislodged tooth back into place before you see our Adams Ridge emergency dentist. You should not put an avulsed tooth back in your mouth for concern that it may be accidentally swallowed. Instead, you can use a container of milk or one with warm water and salt to keep the tooth moist and preserved. Call our office, or have someone else do so. We will make certain that our Adams Ridge emergency dentist is ready for you and advise you as to any other helpful actions to take in the meantime. Upon your arrival, you can expect an examination. X-rays will also be taken. There are three typical outcomes. The best is when the tooth is partially attached with no pulp damage. A splint or orthodontic wire is put in place to secure your tooth while it heals. Pulp damage, common when the tooth is avulsed, requires root canal therapy. It's also possible that the tooth cannot be saved, in which case replacement options can be discussed.
The best outcomes are closely linked to timely care, so don't hesitate to reach out to our office when you suffer dental trauma. Every effort is made to help you keep your tooth strong and healthy.
